Palo Alto, CAGAMEGOLF, the game’s leading GPS shot- and stat-tracking sensor platform, is pleased to welcome renowned golf instructor, inventor and presenter Martin Chuck as the brand’s Coaching Lead and official ambassador. Chuck will be a spokesman and educator for the brand in content and videos and will also be instrumental in developing best practices and optimization plans for coaches and instructors who, along with their students, use the innovative GameGolf KZN platform.

“Martin Chuck is one of the brightest minds and most generous and talented teachers in the game today. Our team couldn’t be more excited that he’s a part of GameGolf and will educate golfers and coaches on the competitive edge GameGolf KZN delivers,” says Joe McKnight, V.P. of Engineering at GameGolf. “What Martin brings to GameGolf is the practical simplification of the platform’s various and beneficial features as well as leadership that will show coaches and golfers how to get the most out of GameGolf KZN.”

GameGolf recently announced its most extensive upgrades to date with the launch of its next-generation technology “KZN,” short for Kaizen (pronounced KY-zen), which means “constant improvement” in Japanese and Korean cultures. The cutting-edge new GameGolf KZN platform supports the company’s reinvigorated vision and reinvestment to maintain its position as the leading GPS stat tracker for golfers and coaches.

“Golfers seeing measurable improvement in key areas of their game can be a great motivator and can get them fired up to play more golf. That’s why I’m excited to be the instruction and coaching lead for GameGolf,” said Chuck. “It’s a large community of improvement-minded golfers who are serious about getting smarter and getting better. I’m excited to help motivate more golfers and coaches to take advantage of the upgrades GameGolf has put into the platform. The technology and user interface upgrades will help raise the level of enjoyment and engagement golfers get out of the game.”

Chuck, a perennial honoree on Golf Digest’s List of Top 50 Coaches in America, is the creator of Tour Striker Golf Academy, one of America’s top golf schools. A former Canadian Tour player and club professional who learned early in life from legendary pros and ball strikers Moe Norman and George Knudson, Chuck’s notable professional students include major winners Darren Clarke and Mike Weir. He has developed numerous successful training aids and video series and has taught more than 1,000 golf academies over the past three decades, helping more than 50,000 people play better golf.

“As a teacher, it’s incredibly valuable to go beyond just seeing a student’s technique and have GameGolf’s data tracking help me find where my students have gaps in their abilities. With GameGolf KZN, I know instantly, right in the user interface, that their driver might be functional, but they almost never hit the green from 150 to 220 yards. It also makes it easier, too, to address the elephants in the room with students who, for example, hit their driver all over the yard. That’s data you can’t hide from. If golfers are going to spend any of their valuable time practicing, they know where the improvement opportunities truly are with GameGolf. That’s powerful,” Chuck says.

With its engaging new platform and user interface, GameGolf KZN provides an engaging, data-centric, and improvement-driven player experience thanks to significant technology upgrades. Users enjoy unprecedented GPS shot tracking, data collection, stat tracking, and the Smart Caddie app function analyzing 10 key data points to a game-changing level. Coaches can easily log into a player’s Performance Dashboard and analyze important strokes-gained data (Tee-to-Green, Off-the-Tee, Approach the Green, Around-the-Green, Putting) pulled from both leisure and competitive rounds.

“The GPS technology and shot tracking is so advanced,” Chuck says. “After the round, you see how accurate and detailed the shot tracking is and it makes you want to dive in deeper to the parts of your game you want to work on next. As a teacher, I can help students build their game piece-by-piece until they have the skills and put the work in to become a more complete golfer. GameGolf gives us the exact road map to get a couple of shots better as we learn and grow.”

GAMEGOLF, the game’s leading GPS shot- and stat-tracking sensor platform, announces its most extensive and innovative upgrades to date with the launch of its next-generation technology “KZN,” short for Kaizen (pronounced KY-zen), which means “constant improvement” in Japanese and Korean cultures. The cutting-edge new GameGolf KZN platform supports the company’s reinvigorated vision and reinvestment to maintain its position as the leading GPS stat tracker for golfers and coaches.

GameGolf KZN has launched with updated pricing – the $269.99 price includes the KZN hardware and a free one-year membership (a nearly $120 value) – making KZN the most affordable and technically advanced system in the space while elevating the user experience across the board.

“The release of GameGolf KZN celebrates the complete reimagining and reengineering of golf’s original GPS shot-tracking system, with markedly improved design and technology advancements and a tremendously elevated user experience,” says Joe McKnight, V.P. of Engineering at GameGolf. “Golfers and coaches who enjoy technology in this category are going to be blown away by its responsiveness, accuracy, graphics, gamified modes and deep, robust shot analysis – all designed to dive deeper than ever before into the individual shots and skills they need to shoot lower scores and improve their game faster.”

CUTTING EDGE A.I. AND GPS POWER SUPERB USER EXPERIENCE
With an engaging new platform and user interface, GameGolf KZN provides an immersive, data-centric, and improvement-driven player experience – thanks to significant technology upgrades. Users will enjoy unprecedented GPS shot tracking, data collection and stat tracking.

The first thing golfers will notice is the sleek, compact hardware unit and its high-tech black and metallic look. It clips to the golfer’s belt. Players also attach GameGolf KZN’s 14 lightweight smart tags to their clubs. What elevates these tags above all others: They house replaceable batteries that eliminate the need to buy new smart tags when the batteries deplete.

GameGolf developers have also made dedicated strides to ensure Exceptional Battery Life. The smart tags are powerful and work in concert with a state-of-the-art A.I. Neural Network that provides an incredibly accurate shot tracking system and the first to use the same smart tags for woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters. Any KZN smart tag attaches to any club. Then there is the system’s speed. GameGolf KZN uses an advanced and powerful GPS chip that enables impressively fast GPS shot location uploads – for a highly responsive and seamless user interaction.

GameGolf completely revamped its IT infrastructure, while also adding a new digital User Experience across its Apps and a Performance Dashboard that is more visual, gamified, and highly interactive. Golfers can dive deeper than ever into their data and stats analysis, to help quickly and efficiently improve their game.

ROBUST ANALYTICS FOR FOCUSED GAME IMPROVEMENT
In the Post Round Analysis section, the game is broken into Strokes Gained categories that motivate golfers and allow them to compare elements of their game to others with similar, higher or lower handicaps. The system will also pinpoint and suggest practice areas of a game that will help golfers more quickly reach their desired handicap.

ON-COURSE PLAYING MODES
Taking advantage of the industry’s most accurate shot-tracking platform is as easy as arriving at the course and pressing a button. There's no need to tap an external wearable device. GPS location can be detected in as little as 10 seconds from powering your device at more than 36,000 courses, so you are ready to play golf immediately. GameGolf KZN recognizes the location of the course and is ready to go. It operates in three different modes.

The first playing mode is Offline – simply start playing and the system automatically detects and tracks every shot and yardage by each club, and then automatically uploads the custom data to the companion smartphone app (iOS, Android) or the GameGolf website for review. It’s ideal for people who don't want to bother with their phone on the course. In the second Live mode, golfers use their phone, on which they can see fly-by hole graphics and their live ball position. Shots are instantly recorded, as well. Plus, golfers can play live competitions with friends who are on the course at the same time.

The third mode is the truly advanced Smart Caddie. Previously available as an add-on subscription, it is now included in the standard price. After about six rounds using GameGolf KZN, golfers can have Smart Caddie recommend customized shots and club selection, based on their unique shot tendencies and current playing conditions. It’s genuinely like having a caddie’s knowledge in hand.

Smart Caddie factors in wind, humidity and elevation. And users can choose if they want Smart Caddie to feed them advice based on a Safe, Optimal or Aggressive Strategy. It is designed specifically to create a seamless and unmatched immersive, on-course experience for golfers that leads them to make better playing and practice decisions to lower their scores.

POWERFUL DATA FOR FASTER IMPROVEMENT
For both players and coaches (Individual or Team), the Smart Caddie app analyzes 10 key data points to a game-changing level. Coaches can easily log into a player’s Performance Dashboard and analyze important strokes-gained data (Tee-to-Green, Off-the-Tee, Approach the Green, Around-the-Green, Putting) pulled from both leisure and competitive rounds. For high-school and college golf coaches, this can take overall team improvement to another level. With video and statistical data platforms similar to the technology commonly used by football and basketball coaches today, GameGolf KZN opens up the power of deep-dive, performance-improvement-driven data analytics for golf teams everywhere.

Additional data points the platform provides includes individual scores and averages, GPS rangefinder for more than 36,000 golf courses, individual handicaps, club yardages, and overall shot dispersion. All of this shot data together provides valuable insight on what players need to work on to create strategic practice plans for game improvement.

“Interactivity and social engagement are other incredible ways that GameGolf KZN stands apart," says McKnight. "From real-time, in-round competitions in KZN’s Live Mode to the ability to share shot data with coaches and instructors for optimal game improvement, this system harnesses, aggregates and shares your shot data in ways that will set you on the fast track to better golf and deeper enjoyment of the game.”

Improving at golf is all about setting goals.

Of course, goals aren’t much good if you have no idea how to reach them.

Enter GameGolf – a key part of Terry Young’s progress from a 34 handicap to a 7.4

The golfer who was once happy to break 100 is currently on a run of 11 straight rounds of 81 or better, including five in the 70s.

He recently fired an 80 on the famous South Course at Firestone Country Club – host to numerous world-class events.

Is he satisfied?

Well, maybe a little. But as always, Terry has his eye on the next milestone – and the steps it will take to get there.

“When I was a 15 and wanted to get to 10,” he says, “(I asked) what did I need to do?”

Now the question is, “What do I need to do to be a 5?”

GameGolf makes that an easy question to answer with its “Strokes Gained” function – the same one used on the PGA Tour.

Terry has identified his driving distance and approach play as the areas most in need of improvement.

He’s tackling the distance issue as we speak. On the advice of his teacher – who checks Terry’s GameGolf stats before their lessons – he’s working on his release to create a lower ball flight for more roll.

He also switched shafts on his coach’s recommendation.

And the results? So far, so good.

In his last 10 rounds, Terry’s averaging 221 yards off the tee – up from 211 yards in his previous 10 rounds.

For good measure, he’s boosted his fairways hit numbers from 48% to 54%.

He’s still plugging away at Golf Digest’s Top 100 Public Courses in America list, too. At last count, he’d played 93 of them.

His ultimate goal? To knock off the final seven, of course.

And get that handicap down to 5 while he’s at it.

Terry Young celebrated his 59th birthday in style – not with a wild party or a trip to Vegas, but by reaching yet another golf milestone.

The date: Saturday, October 9.

The site: The Links at Norfolk in Ramsey, Minn.

The score: 75 (one stroke off his personal best)

The achievement: 14 pars in a single round, his most ever in 18 holes – so far.

Happy birthday, Terry!

Progress like Terry has made – he’s whacked an astonishing 26 strokes off his handicap since he started using GameGolf and is currently an 8 – is bound to bring lots of breakthroughs.

And man, has it ever.

Many of them came in his first couple of years using GameGolf, when Terry had tons of room for improvement.

A small sampling of his early triumphs:

  • Hitting 13 of 14 fairways (93%) at the Dormie Club in North Carolina on March 4, 2015.
  • Smashing a 294-yard drive at Minnesota’s Rush Creek GC on July 12, 2015. (“It was wind-assisted,” Terry says, “but a great shot.”)
  • Finding 12 of 18 greens (67%) en route to an 82 at difficult Stonebridge CC in New Hampshire on August 17, 2016. (Terry called it “the round of my life” at the time, adding, “everything went so well.”)

He’s since eclipsed that long drive with a 380-yard poke and hit 14 greens in a round at Gamble Sands, Washington. Oh, and he’s posted three holes-in-one, the most recent coming at 2017 U.S. Open host Erin Hills.

Not bad for a guy who took up golf at age 47 and, frankly, floundered for a few years before discovering GameGolf. Since 2014, he’s set 61 personal records… and counting.

For a goal-driven guy like Terry, the system’s robust collection of data – which includes yards, direction, club hit and result for every shot you play – was just what the doctor ordered.

“You can't play golf without a ball,” he says, “and now I don't think I can play without GameGolf, either.”

Hi there, fellow golfer:

We recently introduced you to Terry Young, a GameGolf user whose journey serves as a roadmap for late starters – and anyone else with an eye on improvement.

Here’s more insight from Terry’s tale:

Terry took up golf 12 years ago, at age 47, with a set of hand-me-down clubs from his brother.

He worked on his game for several years, with little to show for it on the scorecard. (Sound familiar?)

Then in 2014, Terry’s wife gave him the gift of GameGolf.

He took to it like a duck to water.

Terry, who uses data extensively in his professional life, finally had the feedback he needed to plot a course forward.

Driving distance. Driving accuracy. Greens in Regulation.

Misses to the right. Misses to the left. Misses short and misses long.

The system captured it all, for each and every round, helping Terry pinpoint his weaknesses and attack them through practice.

What helped him most? Finally knowing, instead of just guessing, his actual yardages with each club.

“That was a game changer,” Terry says.

Still, progress didn’t come overnight. In this game, it rarely does.

Terry’s scores hovered in the 90s, sometimes topping 100 and occasionally hitting the 80s, for his first year or so using GameGolf.

(His rounds have included bucket-list spots like Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes and Pinehurst. To date, he’s played more than 80 of America’s top 100 courses.)

Was he discouraged? Nope. More like determined.

Unlike some golfers, Terry didn’t expect to go from a 30-plus handicap to a scratch in the blink of an eye.

He set goals for incremental improvement. “One stroke at a time,” Terry says.

With the help of GameGolf, that’s what he got.

An extra fairway hit here. On more GIR there. Another up-and-down made, another water hazard avoided and before you know it…

Terry’s scores were steadily falling.

How far are we talking here?

In January 2021, Terry fired his best-ever round – a 74 at Eagle Mountain GC in Arizona.

He did it by hitting 77% of the fairways, 12 of 18 greens and carding three birdies.

Not bad for a guy who’d struggled to a 90 on the same course less than six years before.

Terry’s now the proud owner of a single-digit handicap – and a long string of breakthroughs and milestones.

We’ll detail those moments, which include three holes-in-one, in our next email.

Who knows, Terry may add a fourth ace before then.

Terry is a Minnesota resident with more than 700 GameGolf rounds under his belt. Over the past seven years, he’s used the program to slash his handicap by a whopping 26 strokes.

He’s also living proof that it’s never too late to start playing golf – and play it very well. A few facts and figures on Terry’s game:

  • Took up golf at age 47 (he’s now 59)
  • Despite using numerous training aids, played for about 5 years without much progress
  • Began using GameGolf as a 34 handicapper in 2014. He’s now an 8, with a career-low score of 74 and three holes-in-one
  • Has played 84 of the world’s top 100 golf courses
  • Terry’s PGA pro uses GameGolf to help build his lesson plans
  • Considers GameGolf a vital piece of equipment: “You can't play golf without a ball, and now I don't think I can play without GameGolf, either.”

https://shop.gamegolf.com/en-au/blogs/top-news/better-than-launch-monitor 2022-01-19T09:18:08-08:00 2023-06-06T09:37:24-07:00 Better Than Launch Monitor? Game Golf

Launch monitors have changed golf.

There’s no doubt about that.

You can use a monitor to dial in your set to perfection by optimizing launch angles, spin rates and all kinds of ball flight details.

But once you’ve got every club just right… then what?

At that point, the launch monitor’s job is basically done.

And if you paid a pretty penny for it, well, hopefully you got your money’s worth.

An investment in the GameGolf shot tracking system, on the other hand, keeps delivering major value.

Shot after shot. Round after round. Year after year.

Like a launch monitor, you can use GameGolf to track every shot you hit on the range. It’ll tell you how far you carry every club, plus which direction and how far off line.

That’s where the similarities end.

Unlike a launch monitor, GameGolf goes with you on the course.

And what does it do there? Glad you asked.

For starters, GameGolf gives you precise yardages to every target via GPS.

It records the result of every shot, including the club, distance and direction.

It also records the type of lie type on each approach shot, whether you’re in the fairway, sand or someplace else.

It even calculates your “Strokes Gained” off the tee, on the approach, around the greens and putting. That’s the same stat tour pros use to see where they stand vs. the field (then plan their practice accordingly).

And GameGolf’s Smart Caddie app gives you personalized advice on strategy, club selection and more.

Can a launch monitor do all that?

Nope. In fact, a launch monitor can’t do any of that.

About the only thing GameGolf can’t do is bring you drinks… but we’re working on it. ☺

We should also mention that GameGolf is the much more affordable option if you’re choosing between our system and a launch monitor.

Which makes the choice all the more obvious.
